Why Do We Walk Alone

Psalm 107:4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

The only thing I’ve ever found that sets people free releases the healing virtue of Jesus and brings a manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit in people’s lives is to be engulfed in the presence of God.  You can go through every workbook.  You can map out all the spiritual equations.  You can present every spiritual formula.  But at the end of the day, you must bring people into the presence of God to supply any need.

We know through the scriptures the things concerning the presence of God.  We know for instance that the presence of God is with us when we gather in His name.  If the motive behind our gatherings is to place our teachings on display, then all we will have is our teachings.  If the motive is to showcase our talented musical skills, then all we will have is our music.  If the motive is to enhance the environment of our buildings, then that’s all we will have.  But if we come together simply to honor and adore the Lord Jesus Christ, He will show up every time.  The Bible tells us that He inhabits the praise of His people.  Therefore, if we teach people to praise, and people practice that praise together, the presence of the Holy Spirit will indeed fill the place and the glory of God will be revealed.  That is not a complicated puzzle or an elaborate spiritual equation, it is just simple truth.

Through frustration and fragmentation, God through His Spirit has convicted me of some things I must confess.  My journey through Psalm 107 is restoring my firm conviction of the power of praise.  However, in this Psalm, there is this penetrating verse that caused me to repent.  What is it that steals our praise?  What is it that causes us to think that our lives must be doomed, and the Church cannot help?

God told me I had been walking alone on a solitary path.  The roads we travel are marked quite remarkably.  Most of the roads I’ve been traveling are roads that no one travels but me.  It takes a lot of work to find roads that no one else is traveling.  This desire to be alone will take you down the wrong road.  I’ve traveled the road of unworthiness and found no presence of God there.  I’ve traveled the road of shame and found no presence of God there.  I’ve traveled the road of intellectualism and found no presence of the Lord there.  To be hidden on the road without the presence of God can be fearful, can create doubt, and can cause you to question your purpose, but to be on the road of purpose, transformation, and surrender will cause you to be hidden in the rock of ages.  It is on that road that God will place His hand over your face and allow you to see His glory as He passes by your way on that road.

It is in praise that we are translated from the wrong road to the glory road.  Please, everyone that is taking the time to read this, please, start praising God.  Let nothing but praise come out of you for the next few days and experience God's glory and transforming power into your life.
