What is your Experience?

I can’t get away from a word the Lord spoke to my heart a few days ago.  He said to me, “People want to experience something, they want to encounter something, but they don’t want to learn of me.”  I believe this to be a reason for some of the shallowness we see in churches.  Some of our church services look like entertainment events instead of real worship gatherings.  We have replaced learning of and worshiping Jesus with just experiencing something.  What could replace Jesus as the object of our worship?  What could we encounter that could replace Jesus?

The list would be enormous of things we use to replace Jesus with.  Human intellect, music, environment, fellowship with other people, the list could go on and on.  Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  This verse tells us that we get the substance of whatever we place our faith in.  If we place faith in another person, we will get the substance of that person.  If we place our faith in music, we will get the substance of what that music provides.  Can you imagine tapping into the substance of who Jesus is when we place our faith in Him?  When the substance of Jesus is released to us by placing faith in Him, lack of confidence is removed.  Weariness seems to turn to spiritual energy when we realize the power of the living Christ is the source and object of our faith.  When we understand that Jesus meets us at our point of faith, then we can move into higher realms of glory that bring revelation and illumination to who He is.  Passion is rekindled when faith in Him is released.  The joy that Jesus provides will become our strength to keep walking into His power when He fills our vision, and we come to full faith in Him.

We have hope on this day.  As dark as it is.  As chaotic as it is.  When the storms look the worse is when the light of our Lord will breakthrough.  Just as we think all is lost, I believe our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will release the substance of who Jesus is to His people and we will arise with His power.  A true Kingdom culture will invade the Church and destroy the strongholds the enemy has been implanting in the midst of God’s people.  We will see leaders in high positions fall and others arise.  Some of these leaders will be more evil than what we now have, but God’s army will fulfill the scriptures of being more than conquerors.  As the invisible breaks through into the visible, we will stand amazed at just what the presence of God will provide for those who place their faith in Him.

In everything we experience, oh God let us experience you.
