The bible teaches us that in the last days “perilous times” will come.  We can see that we are in a dangerous time on earth.  The threat of war is upon us.  At the time of this writing, we are looking at an impending invasion by Russia into Ukraine.  150,000 Russian soldiers are poised at the Ukrainian border.  The are many political reasons that are being talked about as to the cause for this action by the Russians.  The truth of why this is happening is simply because they can.  There is nothing to restrain them from invading Ukraine. 

Just shortly over a year ago, the United States was energy independent.  We were producing enough oil to sustain not only our Nation but also to export to our allies.  We canceled the keystone pipeline and stopped drilling in Alaska and raised the regulations on producing oil to the point that we are now having to import oil from Russia, OPEC, and others.  Germany, our ally is now dependent on Russia for their energy.  Because of this, we have very little leverage to keep Russia from invading Ukraine and the cost of that is multiple thousands of lives.  America and the Nations that purchase oil from the Russian’s will be funding their war effort against Ukraine. 

The philosophical change concerning the issue of energy is at the root of the problem.  Scott Pruitt the EPA director under President Trump said. 

“The biblical world view with respect to these issues is that we have a responsibility to manage and cultivate and harvest the natural resources that we’ve been blessed with to truly bless our fellow mankind,” Pruitt told CBN’s, David Brody.

In that same interview, Pruitt condemned the “weaponization” of the EPA and criticized the “environmental left” for “telling us that, though we have natural resources like natural gas and oil and coal, and though we can feed the world, we should keep those things in the ground, put up fences and be about prohibition.” 

The environmental left is now in control in the Biden Administration.  Now we ignore the resources God has given us and attempt to develop resources from our technology that cannot compare to God’s program.  As a result of this change, we have no leverage to keep our enemies from pursuing our harm. To be clear we would have to conclude that the agenda of the climate change demographic will be responsible for the lives lost in any conflict between Russia and Ukraine. 

The real question is can this be the beginning of Russia’s march toward Israel?  We know that Ezekiel 38 gives the prophecy of this event.  However, in Daniel 9:24-27 we have a record of the Anti-Christ (who is a political leader) negotiating a peace treaty between Israel and the rest of the world.  The march of Russia could bring about an event like this. 

This conflict could have been avoided by America staying on the path of energy independence and becoming an exporter of oil to our NATO allies.  Now it looks like the only path forward is for the oil of the Spirit to intervene on behalf of intercessors who are willing to pray for God’s intervention.  We are taught to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.  This should be the mandate believers embrace at this moment.
