James 2:18-19 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
I honestly never thought I would see the day when even the demons had a more substantial faith than many who think they are in right standing with God.
The acknowledgement of many today who even stand as Pastors of churches are debating whether the Bible is true and that Jesus is the only way to heaven. What is the cause of such demonic confusion in the minds of so many? The demons believe such an undeniable truth as there is but one God in the spirit world. Not only do they believe this truth, but they also are in extreme fear and horrified at it. Yet this very truth is being denied among some professing believers.
The context of this verse is connected to actions matching professed faith in our lives. James says, show me your faith without any works, and I will show you my faith by my works. It indicates that there will be actions that will define what you believe. It’s a simple truth that follows people whether they want to admit it or not. We do what we believe.
Matthew 7:16-20 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. These words spoken by Jesus declare a simple message. What we really believe becomes the fruit of our life. The sad reality is that the church is being infiltrated by those who don’t even believe in the Bible anymore. To present a gospel without repentance and acknowledgement that Jesus is the only way to the Father is to have less faith than even the demons.
A demonic confusion is now clearly seen by those who truly believe who Jesus is. Those who live their lives as if whatever they want to do is acceptable in God’s sight do not truly believe. When we see corruption coming forth from our lives, we know that our belief system doesn’t align with God's Word. It is no more complicated than that.
It’s been disappointing, to say the least, to see many who I’ve known all my life that at one time agreed with the truth of the Bible now go their own way into a universalist mindset to where their faith no longer is as strong as demons. More disappointing than that is to see these very people rise to prominent positions in the church and merchandise their teachings to lead people into the corruption of unbelief.
Jesus said that these would be hewn down and cast into the fire. The declaration should be that Jesus is Lord. We need to get back to the simplicity of the gospel that teaches there is only one way to heaven: the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ Jesus. We need a supernatural intervention now for people to believe. The blindness is so deep that without a visitation of the Holy Spirit on the message being delivered by the preaching of the cross, no one will be able to appropriate it into their lives. Words are no longer enough. We need the demonstration of the power of the person of the Holy Spirit.
