The daily Grace Connection

Haley's Dad is the Pastor of the Grace Place and writes a daily devotion called the Grace Connection.  This is the post for Wednesday.

Acts 2:17

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Our grandson, Cade, turns sixteen next month. He recently wrote a list of “16 things he’s learned (one for each year of his life).” I thought just the fact that he was trying to think of 16 things was pretty impressive for a teenage boy! See some of his deep thoughts below.

16. We never stop learning. We are always learning new things, but life experience does last longer than book learning.

15. It is okay not to “feel” happy. Some of the most valuable things you learn come from hard or negative times.

14. Life is worth more than anything. There is nothing as beautiful as “the passing of DNA” from generation to generation. All life is as valuable as gold... more actually.

13. Our world is full of stories. One of the best things about people is their unique perspectives and stories.

12. No one is perfect, and I would say that flaws are what paint the picture of life.

11. Living at a slower pace is a good thing. Watching life unfold from an eternal perspective brings a sense of “not belonging to this world” and yet a sense of peace.

10. Opinions are valuable but not too valuable. Everyone has an opinion, but their opinions are not facts or signs of indisputable evidence.

9. A bird needs both wings to fly. Cooperation is a necessity for success and the root of

cooperation is empathy.

8. Life is not worth living without meaning and a purpose. God gave each of us a purpose but without Him in our lives, it is all meaningless.

7. Time changes everything as society continues to “move forward,” but not much changes in God’s creation and God never changes.

6. There is always a foundation. Buildings have them, trees have them, and so do we. Make sure your foundation is unshakable.

5. To live wisely, you must understand that most things are temporary, but people last for an eternity.

4. Our planet is remarkable. It is undoubtedly gorgeous, stunning, and designed with intelligence.

3. We are all human. Despite physical and neurological differences, we are all under the influence of good and evil.

2. In our society, too many people feel unloved.

1. Individuals are not themselves a lot of time. It is important to always be yourself (otherwise you might forget you exist) but seriously, you only get a short time on earth, and you should avoid losing your true character to fake IDs.
