Sometimes the perspective we have on things is determined by where we are standing. If you’re standing on the outside of someone’s circumstance, you will have a certain view that you can see clearly. If it is your circumstance, then your perspective will most likely be completely different. What is obvious to one, may not be obvious to another.
If you believe that everything has purpose and design, then the only place to truly look for the right perspective is the Word of God. I remember Jack Taylor told of a circumstance he found himself in. He had open heart surgery, complications set in, and he went through a tremendous amount of pain. His thoughts were, that both God and the devil were trying to kill him, he just didn’t know who was going to get the job done first. Was God using this to bring about greater glory in Jack’s life or was Satan trying to kill him? The reality was both were true. A very familiar principle of truth gives an understanding of such events. What Satan means for evil, God uses for good.
I have been set down for about 3 weeks now with health problems. The prospect looks like I’m starting down a journey of healing that God is in complete charge of. It is obvious to me that Satan had a strategy to take me out, but God has a design that means greater glory. As I surrender more of myself to Jesus, there is a peace that passes understanding that makes obvious to me what is happening in the moment. This event in my life is changing my direction. Focus, priority, and even ministry will be different for me now. There are so many things we learn going through a trial, you cannot help but be changed.
Just a few things I will share with you that surely will be familiar to you with the adversity you have faced. First, God intends for me to live in this moment. Today is the day that is before me. I didn’t realize how much time I spent thinking and planning for tomorrow. You cannot live today if all your day is spent dealing with tomorrow. Secondly, we cannot change the path that God has designed for us to walk in. Many who find themselves walking through the fire, allow that fiery trial to redefine the path. The trial is truly designed to bring to you strength, and power, to enable you to fulfill that impossible task He has called you to. Third, preparation for our trials is always given by the Lord before we get there. You never realize how prepared you are till you get there. The anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit through the eternal Word of God that you have encountered in your life is the preparation that will see you through every circumstance.
It's obvious to me that Satan is working to try to destroy anything that God wants to accomplish in me. It is also obvious to me that God will turn everything Satan means for evil into my good and His glory. During this time of trial, I believe that I will concentrate on the spirit within instead of the body without. I believe the Word of God will be my strength and give light to my path. I believe that God’s plan will be accomplished. The only thing that is required of me is to simply trust God each day. Whether we stand inside or outside the circumstance, these things that are obvious we must hold on to.
