Coming to full faith in Jesus Christ is a thought that has been rolling around in my heart for several months. When I first began thinking about this I wasn’t sure about the scope of what it meant. For years, I have preached on how we compartmentalize our Christian life. It has been my observation that we live our lives with a different rule structure depending on the situation we are in or depending on the people we are around.
Before we came to faith in Christ as our Redeemer and Master we lived in agreement with Ephesians 2:2 “Wherein in time past we walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.” The standard of this world system is under the direction of Satan and produces a spirit of disobedience. The choice is quite simple. We choose to live under the government of God or the government of man. Coming to faith in Christ gives us entrance into the rule structure of the government of Christ, which we call the Lordship of Christ. It’s clear that many who sit in the buildings called churches haven’t come to full faith in Christ. The struggle against the course of this world is growing in intensity. We have reached a point now where there is a clear division among those who name Christ Jesus as their Savior and I believe that God Himself is bringing the division. Luke 12:51 “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division.”
We are told in Matthew 5:13-14 to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The Christian voice in America is speaking and acting in ways that are denying their Christian faith. We are not being salt and light that we are commanded to be under the government of God. At some point we cease from being Christian if we do or stand for things that oppose the government of God and choose to live under the course of this world.
The Gallup polls in the last election, as well as other polls like the New York Times, broke down the evangelical vote in ominous ways. They designated it as white evangelical vote while saying nothing about any other minority. It is the course of this world that promotes racism, not true Christianity. The Word of God brings us together and makes us one in Christ. However, these polls say that from 76% to 81% of white evangelicals supported Donald Trump in the last election. I say to you that anyone who didn’t support Donald Trump was supporting the murder of innocent children, the immoral lifestyle choice of homosexuality, and the annihilation of the state of Israel. You cease being Christian when you support a government of man that denies the rule structure clearly set by the government of God. To live constantly in sin and rebellion calls into question if there has ever been faith in Christ. Sin brings judgment on this world, but in the life of someone who has come to full faith in Christ, it will always bring repentance.
The most severe punishment God can ever inflict upon a people is to give them what they want after they have rejected what they need. To those who have come to full faith in Christ, we are going to see the hand of God move in great ways. To those who have decided to follow the course of this world, you may be getting ready to receive what you wanted. Pray for a spirit of repentance.
