"The Small, the Weak, the Rejected, and the Outcast"

9.23.2021 – The Small, the Weak, the Rejected, and the Outcast

I was reading through some scriptures this morning, and I began to notice a “theme”…

As I read through these scriptures,

it was as though I could “see” and “notice

and feel a deeper compassion for:

The Small

The Weak

The Rejected

The Outcast

One of the things that I LOVE about the Lord is…

He lifts up the humble and small,

He gives HIS strength to the weak,

He loves and accepts the one who has been “rejected,”

He chooses the one who has not “been chosen,”

and He draws close the outcast— the one who has been banished from society.

He places His eye upon those who are not typically “noticed, or seen.”

We can see this within the examples of the scriptures, God’s heart for Israel—”small, unlikely, rejected, cast out.”

We can see from what the scriptures show us about His love for Israel,

giving us a deeper a glimpse into His nature, His heart, His way.

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples…”—Deuteronomy 7:7

“And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”—Isaiah 11:12

We see this in the way of Jesus,

within His actions toward the people—His compassion toward the outcasts that He encountered.

I would imagine that He might have searched the crowds for the small one “hidden in the corner,”

or the one who is “downcast, and broken upon the ground.”

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…”—Luke 4:18,19

“Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.“—Matthew 8:3

“Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”—Luke 15:2

Jesus said,

“I have come to call not those who think they are righteousbut those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”—Luke 5:32

And He places this very thingHis heart of compassion for THESE ones,

within our hearts, from His. 💖

Care and compassion,

for the broken

the downcast

the outcasts of society.

Those the world has deemed

“worthless”

“unwanted”

and “rejected”

…He rescues the ones that have been “left for dead.”

And as His Children of Light, He gives us the EYES to see them—to find them…

And His heart—that we can love them.

It’s like, I can almost imagine this picture from what I am learning about His nature…

…that He might look to “these” ones and say,

This one is BEAUTIFUL in My sight! I can USE this one.”

2 Corinthians 12:8-9, in the New Living Translation says, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

He chooses me, He chooses you.

That He might infuse

HIS light

HIS might

HIS strength

into

That HIS glory might be seen

and encountered

and experienced

through me, and through you.

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah”—Psalm 68:19

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.“—Hebrews 4:16

Thank You, Father. 💝 I love this way about You. 💖 Help us to walk in Your way, and to love these “ones” with the love of Your heart.
