“As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:31-33 NLT
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth; he created the birds, the fish, the beasts of the field and man. He is overwhelmed with love for us as his creation that he willingly laid down his life for man that we might live. He is Jesus Christ who loves the world and everyone in it and continues to pursue people with a heart of love but is gracious enough to allow each person to make their own choices.
When we invite Jesus Christ to take over our lives, we become one with him just as a man and a woman become one at marriage He becomes our Bridegroom God and we are His bride. This great mystery from Ephesians 5 expresses the covenant relationship of unity in marriage, because two uniquely created individuals become one flesh. The man and woman leave their parents and unite as one flesh, as one just as Christ and the church are one.
The enemy is raging on to destroy this unity because it expresses Christ’s love but it matters not because Jesus remains King of All Creation. Christ has already conquered sin and death no matter what the enemy attempts but He cannot change the fact that Jesus our Royal Bridegroom is coming again for his beautiful bride and inviting all into His glorious covenant relationship.
He wants us as his bride to pray that he will remove the blinders from the eyes of people so they may see the glorious light of the Gospel. There is so much power in our prayers, particularly prayers in unity. He said where two or three gather in my name, there I am in the midst of them. He did not say it must be two or three hundred, but it only two or three believers. This does not mean large prayer gatherings are not good because they are as long as we continue to focus on Jesus and not the numbers. His precious Holy Spirit is continually drawing people unto Jesus with His resurrection power that runs through each believer as an electrical cord plugged into the outlet of heaven. When we pray in faith, the power of the entire Godhead flows through us and changes the very atmosphere around us. When we walk into a room, the presence of God is ready to manifest and show his love to those who do not know him. His love is great beyond measure and he lives inside of his bride ever ready for us to move according to his bidding.
