Are you living your life next to Him? Are you living your life in Him? Are you living your life with the awareness of Him in you? Are you living this new resurrection life under the impenetrable cover that is available to all who put their faith in the Gospel? Paul told the followers of Jesus in Colosse a remarkable truth that too few live in.
“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective.
Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ (hidden) in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ. Colossians 3:1-4, The Message, emphasis mine.
In the vernacular of the game of basketball: that is a slam dunk! Could life in Him really be that secure? You better believe it! Imagine with me, your/my/our life is hidden with Christ, in God! That is the most secure position in all of eternity, time and space. In this place of faith, there is no possibility of defeat or failure. So, Ron and any reading this; ‘get over yourself.’
All that is required of us is to stop the “doubting, eyes to the ground, absorbed by the things right in front of you, unbelief shuffle!” With this simple, yet profound reality of our secure position in Christ, we can look up and be alert to what is going on around Christ. Honestly, it matters not what is going on in the world or even our circumstances—resurrection life is always and only victorious in Christ! Christ alone is where the action is; so let’s be overwhelmed by His perspective, not the illusions of earthly things!
Even better; His life in and through us is our real life. Simple, our life as believers is hidden with Christ in God. So, if what is going on around us or even within us is insecure, it will only be so because of our unbelief. We are securely hidden in him. Whatever is seeking to attack us from within or without, must first go through Papa, and then through Jesus! Not likely they will get through—only our doubt makes us vulnerable. Could it be that simple? Yes!
Are you tracking with this glorious position? This is not ‘smoke and mirrors’ Christianity. It is not the illusion of victory-it is absolute victory! Just like Elisha realized in second Kings; they that are surrounding us, far outnumber our enemies. It’s simply a matter of seeing ‘spiritual reality’ from His perspective. My prayer for you and me: Papa, thank you for the grace to believe the glorious Gospel every moment of everyday for our self. Then we will be in the secure position to be a bright light for many to follow! Be nurtured by your true position in Christ; hidden with him in Papa!
In the firm grip of His grace! Ron Ross
