In chapter 2 of Romans, Paul shifts from addressing the “them” who are turning from God to the “us.” His focus is on judgment; what we give of it and what we receive of it from God. We are quick to condemn others, but if we look at ourselves truthfully we will discover we are just as guilty of falling into sin. Our inner light of consciousness created by God showing us the difference between right and wrong is just as susceptible to getting extinguished by the enemy as theirs is. We are not above judgment or any more superior because of our identity as God’s people. We are to leave the judgment up to God, trusting in all that He does and all He can see that we cannot. In this teaching, Alan Smith explores that concept and shows us how we can be set free from our own judgment of others.
