"Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus." Well, here goes. It's true! While all of us have trauma, trials and tribulations, we don't necessarily think of them as coming seemingly in unrelenting waves.
Let me be candid. The following is in no way comparable to the abject difficulty that millions around the world live in as their norm. The point is, NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM GODS LOVE!
Sunday a week ago I received a call that mother had not been seen si...nce Saturday morning. She has Dementia and had wonderful friends that checked in on her a couple times daily. It wasn't until Sunday they realized neither had seen her. Her doors were open, the beloved dog was there and her car was there (which she does not drive unless in emergency).
We called 911 and garnered a search party which swelled to 114 with bloodhounds, SHP Helicopter, drones. By Monday night not a clue had been found. It looked bleak and we were living in a horror story.
Tuesday morning God sent a gut impression with the overwhelming thought to begin walking in a specific direction to a good friend that lived about 1/4 mile below her. There is a several hundred foot drop in topography between the two of them.
He walked twenty minutes straight to her. She had fallen down a 2 to 3 hundred foot ravine and was in thick undercover. The dogs and searchers went within yards of her the day before.
After 3 nights and days laying there she was brought out with no broken bones. Bruises, scrapes and bites covered her. She was rushed to Wake Forest Baptist Acute Elder Care Unit. By Saturday we were able to move her to a Rehab center in Wilkesboro.
Sunday morning I awoke in a hospital bed. Janis told me a terrible story that had happened Saturday night of which I had no memory. I could hardly talk, was very immobilized and weak on my right side. My memory and thinking were impaired. My blood sugar was 647, A1C was over fourteen, blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides were also off the charts.
After all the battery of tests it turns out I had had a mini-stroke. The tests revealed a 70 percent blockage in my left artery in my back neck feeding the brain and disease in my smaller blood veins in the top of the brain.
Now, I am resting at home with a 99 percent recovery in all affects. My numbers are all coming down and I have a grace-filled opportunity to finish my expected end and race fully.
Recovery will necessitate a complete change in eating and exercise habits. That will call forth much prayer support. Thank you ahead of time.
Today I am headed to a future that holds the hope of life empowered by the grace of much improved health habits. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony and that we love not our lives to the death. Yes, emphatically! Nothing can separate us from God's love!!!
