11.28.2021 – Healer of Broken Hearts
You know the little saying that goes,
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me”…
…well that’s a big lie.
Words can be like arrows that wound deeply.
“There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”—Proverbs 12:18
I’m thankful that our Heavenly Father can see these arrows coming at us, and He watches over our hearts.
He shields and guards our hearts more than we can know…
But sometimes…
He allows words that hit and sting us,
hitting the places within our hearts
that we didn’t know could hurt so much…
But He somehow takes the pain…
and makes something miraculous out of it. 💓
And He mends our hearts in such a way…
that our hearts become more full than before—increasing our capacity for compassion…
making us more able to relate,
and understand,
that we might be able to lend a helping hand…
to others who have wounded hearts
…the hurting and the broken…
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”—Psalm 147:3
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound…”—Isaiah 61:1
It’s okay to ask God questions,
“Why did You allow this pain, God? It hurts so much…”
…but when we get a taste of how He so beautifully works…
We understand ‘why’ He sometimes allows such pain.
We understand ‘why’ He sometimes allows the arrows to hit our hearts.
How could He allow such things to happen to us?
Because He knows what He has in mind…
He knows what He can do that will “backfire” these attempts into a glorious, shining, igniting light!
And He desires to mend us in such a way
that our hearts are filled to the brim with compassion.
You see, He knows what pain can do
when it “backfires”
not onto other people
but on the “accuser of the brethren.”
“Your tongue devises destruction,
Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.”—Psalm 52:2
And the attempts of the enemy can “accidentally” give us a clue
that can help us to see a confirmation
of what God might very well be leading us into.
Oh how the enemy wants to stop the things of God!
But we know the One who has overcome,
and He lives within me…He lives within you.
It’s good to remember this truth. ☀️
“The healer of hurting, broken hearts lives within me.”
Wow.
And He has suffered the most pain
of anyone in all of eternity. 💔✨
Thank You, Lord Jesus for what You’ve endured for us.
Thank You for Your beautiful way…
that even in the midst of experiencing pain
You take it, and You make it into something
that allows us to grow
and to be a part
of this desire
that You have within Your heart…
O Healer of Broken Hearts. 💝✨
Lord forgive us when we’ve used our words in a way that is not aligned with Your heart.
And we forgive those who have spoken unkind words over us.
Lord, thank You that the wounds that we receive from words are never ‘fatal’…
for YOU have raised us from death to life,
and we get to live this everlasting LIFE with You, abundantly!
Help us to live it, even now.
And we can say,
“We rejoice! Oh, it was attempted, it was tried, but let it ‘backfire’ onto our enemy, this LIGHT of Christ!”
Just watch and see… ☀️
Thank You, Father. 💝
