Beholding the Glory of the Lord

The world is waiting to encounter a people who know the power and love of Christ within them. The Lord wants us to display His glory through us. In order to display His glory, we must know who we are. “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). The Lord lifts the veil from our face, allowing us to experience the glory of the Lord without hinderance. We now have full access to the Father who made us in His image before the foundations of the world. This transformation into beholding the glory of the Lord is the image that He made us in before the beginning of time. We have been given the grace to receive and behold the glory he wants to poor out onto us which we then shine through us.

It is our inheritance to walk in the mighty power, glory and works Jesus walked in. It’s who we are, and what He made us to be. Ephesians 1:18-19 says, “…that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.” We obtain this inheritance because we are resurrected and seated in heavenly places with Him. He “raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). If we are seated in heavenly places, we therefore behold the power of Heaven to work through us.

I believe religion has given us terms like “I’m just a dirty old sinner”, and “you have to die daily to your flesh” as an excuse to sin and not live in the resurrection power that he calls us to live in. How can I be a sinner if I am seated in Heaven with Christ? How is one supposed to die every day to yourself when I died with Christ on the cross, and was co-resurrected with him? I can’t die constantly if I have already died with him. I am already alive with Christ seated in Heaven! I can’t behold the same image from glory to glory if I have to keep killing myself! The old has already passed, and I now live in resurrection power with Jesus from heavenly places! We can’t make 2 Corinthians 3:18 a reality if we don’t realize who we are in Him, understanding what authority He has given us to walk in! If we are the righteousness of Christ, it would be hypocritical to say that we are sinners (2 Corinthians 5:21). As long as we are labeled as a sinner, we will never conquer sin or live in resurrection power.

We have the opportunity to display to the world the glory of the Lord through the power that He works in us. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20). What an incredible inheritance it is to display the glory and power of the Lord! Jesus is waiting for us to live and be the reality that He paid for. He didn’t pay the brutal price at Calvary for us to squander in the lie that we are good for nothing, dirty old sinners. Jesus is waiting for us to take His baton and be transformed into His image from glory to glory by the Spirit, and be the resurrection power to the world. The world is crying out for us to step into the reality of who He says we are.
