9.11.2021 – His Heart and His Way
As I meditate on what this day represents to our country…
A tragic day in our history…
a day of devastation
a day of loss
a day of “911” emergency…
…I seek God’s heart,
and I cannot help but to also think of a verse
that has become so near and dear to me:
Psalm 91:1
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.“
In my bible notes it says,
“The secret place refers to the protection of the sanctuary. Shadow denotes protection or security. The Almighty is a name for God describing His dual roles as nurturer and protector.”
It seems quite the opposite of what happened to our nation on that day.
And so many of us have sought the Lord about what happened on 9/11.
We’ve asked Him questions like,
“Father, why did this happen to our land?
Why did You allow this attack, this devastation?
Was it that You had to remove Your protective hand?
God, there are so many things that I do not understand…”
(He doesn’t mind when we ask Him these kinds of questions, you know. 💝 )
Jeremiah asks,
“Righteous are You, O Lord, that I would plead my case with You;
Indeed I would discuss matters of justice with You:
Why has the way of the wicked prospered?
Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?” —Jeremiah 12:1
And while we cannot always expect answers, in the way that we tend to expect “answers“…
He has this way of drawing us closer,
deeper into His Word
deeper into His way…
He draws us in,
as we draw near
and as we seek Him.
That we may see and understand
who
He
is…
In the midst of living in a broken land…
“All day long I have held out My hands to an obstinate people who walk in the wrong path, who follow their own imaginations…”—Isaiah 65:2
“Indeed, they have chosen their own ways and delighted in their abominations…”—from Isaiah 66:3
“When Israel chose new gods, war erupted at the city gates. Yet not a shield or spear could be seen among forty thousand warriors in Israel!”—Judges 5:8
“Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.”—Judges 10:14
…and that we might learn how
to take His way
through this dark and evil day.
“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.”—Psalm 37:7
The Word of God is like a “love letter” to His people.
If we dive into it, if we soak it in
He leads us into a deeper understanding
of His heart
and His loving way.
(“Dig in,” I hear Him say. 😊💖)
“In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” — Matthew 6:9-13, The Lord’s Prayer
Oh God, thank You for Your Word,
Thank You that it is Your HEART,
for Your will and Your way
to lead us through this dark and evil day.
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”—Psalm 119:105
And here is where I feel that He is leading me, from His heart this morning…
Draw near!
He’s drawing. He’s calling…
Oh, call upon the Lord!
“911!”
…and He will answer you!
He will be with you in trouble
He will deliver you and honor you
with long life He will satisfy you
and He will show you
His salvation. (from Psalm 91:14-16)
THIS is HIS HEART for His people, for those who love Him!
Straight from His Word,
straight from His heart.
This is His way.
How we so desperately need Him in this day!
God Will Remember Zion
“But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me,
And my Lord has forgotten me.”“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.“—Isaiah 49:14-16
“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”—Genesis 28:15
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”—John 16:33
Thank You, Lord. 💝
