What do you want?

“The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples.  As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”  When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus. Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.  Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.  Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”). John 1:35-40

What do you want? Read a little further and realize, wow, their response was fabulous! I want to know where you are staying I want to be with you, to dwell with you, to know you. Obviously, from their response, these men met Jesus Christ the Messiah because Andrew’s reaction was so exciting. He followed Jesus and then brought his brother saying, “We have found the Messiah! We have found the Messiah and you must come and see!” so, he brought his brother to Jesus. This was an awesome revelation; it was not just about him but also about bringing others in to share in the relationship with Jesus Christ the Messiah, the call to make disciples is a connection to this relationship. First, he spent time with Jesus and then went out to give what he received the two are inseparable. I believe if we cannot do this we will burst because God's intent for us to receive and then share the life of Christ with others, the first commandment. Another exciting part of this is that in Matthew 16 Simon Peter says, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

“Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.” Matthew 16:15-17 NLT

This is what I want, relationship with Jesus first and then with others, it is exciting, it is magnificent! The answer is the same question I ask Jesus each morning as we spend time together, I want a deeper relationship with you, set my heart ablaze with a passion for you. Everyday there are things that come in to try to disrupt this focus so I continually need to come to Jesus for a fresh filling and then give what I have been freely given. I receive freely but I am also to give freely. This is the desire of my heart and my answer to “what do you want?”
