Every aspect of Christ’s nature: spirit, soul and body, bore the curse on our behalf. The very soul of our precious Lord was ravaged by confusion, grief and turmoil.

Behold the Lamb of God: hung upon the cross naked before His enemies, consumed by our sin, abandoned by His earthly friends and by His heavenly Father. The Heavens are rent with the desperate cry of the Prince of Peace and King of Righteousness: “My God! My God! Why hast Thou forsaken Me?”

Jesus died bearing the curse of God; nailed to the tree, of a broken heart.

Isa 53:3-4 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

God’s holiness demands judgment of sin. God’s righteous judgment of sin as being evil and opposed to all that is holy demands that His wrath be released to destroy sin, and punish the sinner.

God’s majestic love demanded that He provide a Holy Substitute; One willing to bare our sin, sickness, poverty, confusion, emotional distress, alienation from God, and the judgment and punishment we deserved.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; the spotless Lamb of God, as our substitutionary sacrifice for the atonement of our sins.

His Blood was shed, and the hand of God was heavy upon Him as “He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him”.

Christ Jesus, our Precious Substitute, bare our sin and all of its results into the solitary depths of Hell where He endured the unspeakable terrors of God’s wrath due us!

Ps 88:1-7 O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

2 Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;

3 For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:

5 Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.

Moved by the majesty of His Holy Love, God in Christ substituted Himself for us, in identification with us as sinners.

God is at once the Offerer, the High Priest and the Offering; all on our behalf. The spotless Lamb of God, slain in our stead under the wrath of God due us, now and forever reigns as King of Kings and Lord of Lords; the Savior of the world.

Eternally, before the Father, the Blood of the Lamb speaks from the mercy seat of such a great salvation.

The wrath of God propitiated, the redemption of mankind purchased, the justification of sinners accomplished and reconciliation between God and humanity now established through Christ Jesus and Him crucified.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
