To be undisturbed or to be captivated

written by Michael McBane

To willfully remain undisturbed as a Christian is folly. To desire the grey area ( what some call the permissive will ) of God's will to accommodate our desires is deceptively diluted. Does it disqualify us from God's love, no. But I have reason to believe that it reduces our ability to discern the will of God, it reduces our ability to discern how who we are either adds more of the life of Christ to those we walk with or subjects them to a teether that drags across the ground when the balloon is trying to fly. It essentially brings disunity and the battle is then often fought but victory is elusive because of the lack of unity. The disunity is often based on one or more of those in the community forming their hearts around the connivence of personal desire. To misplace the love that the Father offers us is often because we seek to gain our inheritance before we understand what it is we are being offered. The fullness of relationship exceeds the gain of the immediate delight of a desire gained.

I hope for more then this and cannot find room for the thoughts that establish a place that give credence to my desire that excludes purpose. I always have and I think it is the grace of God in a gift given to me. I willfully seek to establish a path that gives me the closest proximity to knowing Christ and knowing the Father. I admit there are times when I struggle for a brief moment and think that if I did not include various elements of life in my decision process that my temporary domain would possibly have greater ease or be more about my success.  I do not think I am predisposed to certain characteristics that are more fatalistic then opportunistic. I have simply tasted something that I cannot accept anything less even to get me from point a to point b. That may be wrong but I certainly ask for the heart to go in directions that might be different.

In Proverbs we are told their is a glory given to man but there is a glory given by God that exceeds the choice of men for their own glory. Some would think that this glory given to man is good and that it signifies how God loves us and how He has created us with certain characteristics and desires and creativity. He even places in us desires that make us particularly bent towards particular likes and dislikes. This is not a wrong way to think. I think in fact that it at times brings the directives of God for some decisions but I also think that we need to allow Him to strain or filter these desires or we will find a satisfaction that is contained in a earth bound interpretation of God. Basically we in an insidious way are asking God to form to us.

I have found that perhaps the weakest link in how we relate to God and thus do not get filled with His desires is that we do not cultivate Him. By this I mean we do not speak of Him, we do not offer Him to each other or the world. In other words we do not open the heavens up in our words or testimony day after day. This should be the honey on our lips. Let me tell you what Jesus did today, or this is what I heard HIm say. Some even tell me that it is pride to speak of how He speaks to us or the things we do with Him. I do not know how to comprehend those words it is a fearful delusion and uncovers how one relates to God. Jesus wants us to be extravagant in our testimony. And each day it should enlarge this as it is our currency to traveling in the supernatural.

If we are contained by those who do not share the stories of Jesus nor seek to we will be weighed down and it will be a struggle to see into the hope of God's desire or will in the day to day life we extend into.

See Colossians 3:1 and 2.

Talk about the things of God even the things that you have heard and you will open the heavens and the ladder of Jacob will extend to you and Jesus will come.

So do you wish to remain undisturbed and build your life around your earth bound desires?
