In this scripture, I know Jesus is referencing new tongues as speaking a different language so my intention is not to take it out of context. However, pondering the words, “speaking in new tongues” suddenly brought different meaning to my heart. On Sunday, Pastor Leah’s sermon was about our words and the power coming from them that can change things around us. This is a reminder that our words are seeds that comes from the fruit of Precious Holy Spirit living inside like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If words of love are coming out of our mouths then the seed of love planted will grow and create a loving atmosphere around us. Then, I assume the same would be true of joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Yesterday, I found myself asking my co-worker, how did that conversation sound? I wanted to speak with words of love, gentleness and kindness even though I was having a difficult time with the situation. I kept asking, “Does this email state the point clearly in truth and patience?” These scriptures and sermons are causing me to question my life, “Do the things I say express integrity and faithfulness to Jesus Christ?” How do I respond to people when they yell at me, treat me unfairly, speak cruel words to me, etc.?
Woe is me, I need the help of Holy Spirit to remind me every minute of the day particularly when I am exhausted and just want to be left alone.
My prayer is “Lord, HELP!”
