Only God’s Grace enables us to have the courage to discover who we really are. And that discovery enables us to grant ourselves the grace to believe we are ‘image bearers’ who have an incredible destiny in Jesus! Too many for too long (myself included) have only believed in a grace message which professed an identity which grovels, “I am a miserable worm that deserves to burn in hell.” Grace will barely keep me from that fate. And that would only be possible on my very best day!
God made the following “grace-filled” declaration about His people when they were at an all time low in their relationship with him. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare (peace) and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you (Jer. 29:11-12, ESV). His view of Israel and us is always and only based upon His loving-kindness (true grace) not our performance! The grace to grasp true grace is grace!
Grace has always been there for any movement I’ve made toward authentic transparency. And that grace empowers us to live in our true identity-to be our true self and live out of the heart Jesus gave us.
