Step out of the traffic!

Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God”

Has God ever put a verse on your heart? Sometimes it’s for a day, maybe a few days, or maybe even a week.  God has been reminding me of this verse for months now, and he will not let up.  I love the way the Message says it…

“Attention, all! See the marvels of God! He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, Bans war from pole to pole, breaks all the weapons across his knee. ‘Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.’ "

I am constantly reminding myself to step out of the traffic.  I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but living life as a fully devoted follower of Christ doesn’t happen by accident.  If I am going to live in way that reflects who I am in Christ the best thing I can do today is spend intentional, purposeful, meaningful time with Jesus!  You will never find yourself accidentally praying, or accidentally worshipping, you must make an intentional effort to do it.  So let’s step out of the traffic – facebook, TV, sports, shopping, careers, wii – just to name a few.  Basically the traffic is everything our culture says is important that draws our attention away from what is really important – Jesus!
