Run for your Life
"We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us..." Hebrews 6: 18-20, The Message.
I find myself having to literally run for my very life to God on a regular basis. Of course, at the same moment I am usually running away from some 'besetting sin', life controlling problem or painful unhealed wound or issue. At least, at that moment, I am running in the right direction.
Like the prodigal, Papa is always already headed toward me with arms wide open and loving forgiveness in his gaze. Once I again make eye/heart contact with him I am able to spiritually assess my true self. It is at that very moment I remember I have both hands tightly around the promised hope.
Then I realize anew that we have an unbreakable spiritual lifeline that truly reaches beyond appearances. Someone defined truth this way; "it is the reality that lies behind appearances". The truth is always what he has to say about us. No other voice rings true! The truth is we can experience the purity of his presence at any moment-He never leaves or forsakes us. The truth is Jesus is always running ahead of us, keeping vigilance on His post as High Priest. And what a wonderful High Priest He is!
