Honestly, there are times I feel the other team; Satan and his minions, display such power that I just want to crawl into a corner and pull a ‘blanky’ over my head. Or at the very least: I cower, and acquiesce to my declared enemies. The ‘dark side,’ as portrayed in Star Wars, is nothing more than defeated foes and only has the power to blow smoke. But, in reality, God’s children have instant access to the ‘One’ who has all power and authority.
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know…his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in this present age but also in the one to come… God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way” Ephesians 1:18-23, The Message, emphases mine.
When you spend just a moment focused on a sunset, or taking in the grandeur of a mountain; in that moment, you realize the mere silliness of being intimidated and weakened in the face of the ‘smoke and mirrors’ the world, the flesh and the devil blow our way daily. It’s not even logical to be weakened by their empty lies and schemes! The only hope of darkness is to take us captive to our own ignorance, doubt and unbelief!
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…for since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” Romans 1:16a, 20…NIV. Time and again, we have all been privy to and witnessed the incomparable power of a human heart melting in the face of the all-powerful presence of the one who gave his life for us-Jesus!
“But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being…” Romans 1:21, The Message.
The word ‘power’ means: the ability to act or produce an effect! He empowers us to have heavenly influence. Ours (through him) is the divine ability to act as he would have us act! We have been endowed by Almighty God to produce the effect of wholeness or humility through any and all circumstances. The expected end of our journey on earth is to daily exhibit the power to change the world; one life at a time, starting with our own heart and life.
Just imagine with me; God has given us the privilege and the power of prayer! What an awe inspiring opportunity it is to carry on a daily, moment by moment dialog with the creator of heaven and earth.
A brother put this power of prayer into perspective…”Prayer impacts the flow of history. God has wired HIS world for power, but he calls us to flip the switch! Flip the switch and be nurtured by his power!
