Isiah 54:10 For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and My covenant of peace will not be shaken, says the Lord who has compassion on you.
This past week has been one of much rain, little sunshine, damp and very cold. Looking at the weather forecast for yesterday revealed full sunshine, absolutely no clouds, and reaching 80 degrees! Everyone was looking forward to this welcomed change. The day started out as beautifully as forecasted. With the modern technology and accuracy of doppler weather, you could safely plan your day, and not have a second thought.
But mid-afternoon, and seemingly out of nowhere appeared a very black and ominous sky. Then came the high winds, hail, severe thunderstorms, with reports of tornadoes touching down. This was way out of the norm, even for here in the mountains, and once again confirms that our trust and confidence is only secure in God. What is happening in the natural is a direct result of things happening in the spiritual.
The floor we once walked on is not a continuous supporting surface anymore. The support that holds up the structure is becoming weak. Our system, network, and order is not dependable. The stability of this present world is vanishing before our eyes.
We like our life, our church services, our world, stable, and in a nice neat package. Then we have control and feel safe. We have a handle on things. Stable=anchored, established, unwavering, unchanging, anchored, permanent and fixed.
When things become shaky, and insecure, it is easy to respond in the same fashion, unless the Lord is first in our lives. He is the only One who remains unshakable, stable, and His support holds up the true structure, which is His Kingdom.
