Lenten Thoughts

Isaiah 53:10 (KJ V) “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.”

Jesus was born on this earth for the purpose of dying for all mankind that we might be restored to relationship with God. He lived with resolve to fulfill his life’s calling and God’s plan for His time of earth. This kind of love exceeds human comprehension and can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit. His vision was not for the 33 year life span here on earth. His plans go way out beyond the next millennium.

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

God wants us to have His vision too.
Hebrews 11 talks about all about men of faith, who had vision. Their vision was not only for their 70 or 80 years here on earth, but it was a revelation of God’s eternal purpose.

Hebrews 11:13-16 (KJV)  “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.”  And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.   But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. ”

God desires to give us his vision not just for the next 70 or 80 years but his revelation that goes into the next millennium. He has plans for us that are good and not evil.

Hebrews 12:28-29 (KJV) “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”

As we enter into this Lenten season as a time of repentance and allowing God to search our hearts, it might be a good time to ask him, “What are your plans for me? What is the vision that you have for me over the next 2080 years?

This is my prayer for us during this next season.

Hebrews 13:20-21 (KJV) “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
