Keys

Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.  And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Matthew 16:15-19 NLT

Upon the rock of Peter’s testimony Jesus builds his church and the powers of hell will not conquer it.

keys.jpg?w=203&h=271&width=203Jesus has given us believers keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Notice he says keys “of” the kingdom, not keys to the kingdom. In other words, we are already in the kingdom when confess Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of the living God so we have keys to our heavenly home.

When I was a little girl, my mom would tell me to shut the door so the flies do not come in. There are things that we “shut out” of our lives here on earth, we bind in heaven; the powers of darkness cannot enter these areas. We have keys of the kingdom, keys to various rooms in our hearts and we can shut out darkness that tries to enter in whether it is through media, participation in certain things, taking a stand against evil. We keep our heart with all diligence for out of it springs forth the issues of life. When we think of things that are pure, praiseworthy, just and of good report, we are diligently keeping our hearts. The same is true when we act in love, every act or word of love opens doors in both the earthly and heavenly realms. Our stand for righteousness in every facet of life opens doors in both heaven and earth.

It begins in prayer, conversation with God, listening and responding to him. He is so in love with you that when you even glance at him, you melt his heart. When you spend time with him, he is so excited and looks forward to meeting with you in the same way we do when we are meeting with someone that we love, only magnified. God’s love is potent, greater than any love we could imagine on steroids or magnified beyond comprehension.

He awaits you to come to him because he wants to share his great love with you, listen, what is he saying?
