Psalms 139:23-24 Search me thoroughly, O God, and know my heart! Try me, and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

In the natural, if a person is innocent, he has no fear of being searched. (Jer.17:9-10) lets us know we're not totally innocent or pure. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, and who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the thoughts.
Being "searched" in the natural, or spiritual does not equate to a "pleasant experience." To be searched, is to look beneath the superficial, to scrutanize, piercing and penetrating to find something concealed. I have to honestly ask, who has done this recently in a serious manner, taking the time to listen, and allowing the Holy Spirit to do a complete work, without rushing out for a donut? Woops! I see a hand! ......But I have to admit, this has not been on the top of my "things TO DO list." But it is now.
Jer. 9:7a Therefore thus saith the Lord of Hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them.
TRY means (H974) to investigate, examine, prove. It actually means to apply such tests as are applied to metals in order to determine their genuineness and their value.
The Lord searches the heart...the inward part of it, every room and corner of it; and He knows the thoughts of it; all its intents, purposes, designs, and imaginations; all the secret motives of it, and the wickedness that is in it. He tries the reins. The reins are the most inward and remote parts, out of sight; these are the seat of the affections. The Lord tries these, whether they are towards Him or not; and whether sincere or hypocritical.
When the psalmist said Examine me, he was asking God for a strict and rigid examination of his heart. To express this, he used 3 words, examine, try, and prove.These words together imply that he wished the most "thorough investigation" to be made, and he did not shrink from any test.
This "Spiritual Surgery" (the cutting away and removing) brings healing and allows His Presence and Glory to fill us. I opt for surgery! ...For His Searching.
