This is for your sake, the one He loves so much. I trust He will reach down and help you. He will answer you! [ Do Not Grow Weary] Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. Heb. 12:3 ESV I must admit, I have been on the razor edge of growing weary in the past few years.
After 7 (TIA) strokes, out of control Diabetes, developing heart failure and Atrial Heart Flutter, Colon pre-cancerous polyps, 2 aneurysms, and vessel blockages in the brain-my life has seemed a bit crazy the past 2 1/2 years. Eight hospital stays, and countless tests have left me unable to drive (since May 2017) and home bound most of the time.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Cor. 10:13 ESV
While working through these issues I was tempted and tested fiercely. All of us are. It’s how we deal with them that is vital to our well-being. I am not talking about failure or sin. I am relaying my struggles with uncertainty, doubt, isolation, loneliness, anxiety, and depression. Worry about my wife’s added burdens has been especially difficult. These are not clinical issues, they are the shared human experience.
But, with these tests comes growth in foundational areas of our life. For me they have been growing in my faith journey, enjoying my first-love connection with Jesus more, further development of the eyes and ears of my heart, embracing Father’s love and my personal identity in him and becoming more sensitive to Holy Spirit.
Now, the healing testimony! I have been healed of the 2 aneurysms and the blockages in my brain! Healed from the neck up! Now I ask for your continued prayers for healing from the neck down!!!
The following scriptures have been particularly helpful to me. I trust they will encourage you as well. Consider this a personal visit to build you up!
Fight on for God (fight the good fight of faith). Hold tightly to the eternal life that God has given you and that you have confessed with such a ringing confession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 TLB
[ Faith Under Pressure] Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So, don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. James 1:2-4 TLB
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:1-5 NASB
Therefore, we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Cor. 4:16-18 NASB
Send Timothy, our brother and coworker, God’s minister, to visit you to strengthen your faith and encourage you and to keep you from becoming fainthearted in all the troubles you were going through. (But of course, you know that such troubles are a part of God’s plan for us Christians. 1 Thess. 3:23 TLB
