"Daddy, Please Tell Me a Story"

Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)   The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”

God rejoices over us and wants us to enjoy him and the gifts he gives us.  He desires us to experience love, joy, peace and pleasure in this life.  He sings and rejoices over us even more than we do our own children.  Take the time to stop and listen to his love songs over you.  You will be fascinated.

He wants us to come to him as children.  He told his disciples unless you are converted and become as little children you will not enter my kingdom.

Think about a small child approaching his father and yanking on his pant leg saying, “Daddy please tell me a story!”  The child will do this repeatedly until Daddy responds.  He does this because he rests securely in his Daddy’s love, wants to cuddle up in his arms and hear his voice.  He needs to spend time with him.

Think of being the parent or grandparent of the child making this request.  It melts our hearts and is a cherished time for us as well.

I believe that our heavenly father loves it when we approach him with that kind of humility and love.  He enjoys spending time with us and is just as excited as we are when we make the time for him.  He does not get tired and skip pages in the book, like we sometimes do, we have his full attention.  He is not wishing that we would go to sleep because he is exhausted or preoccupied with unresolved issues.  He always gives us his full attention.  He is omniscient and omnipresent and desires our company.

Take a moment and ask God to help you see Him and His kingdom with the heart of a child.  This does not mean we are childish but childlike.  He wants us to rely on His word just as a child trusts the word of His parents.
