[The following article was published on September 23, 2009 following terrorist's threats in New York City. With the recent natural disasters and global calamities, this article seems more up-to-date than ever and concludes with a biblical perspective that will comfort many.]

What is the focus of your life?
Have you ever heard... you are only as old as you feel? How about... do you like the life you are living in? What do you want your life to look like?
This life on earth is excitingly wonderful. Challenging... yes. But what would your life be if you had nothing to fix... nothing to make... nothing to organize... nothing to take care of?
Life is all about you taking charge, making decisions, choosing friends, living in faith,…
Do you ever think about what God has done for you? Ever lose yourself thinking about love?
The love of a woman, although excitingly wonderful, overwhelmingly warm and undeniably compelling, can not compare to the eternal love God has for you. All that you experience is a little slice of what His…
Perception: Two Realities
By: Alan Smith
Two realities; which one have you chosen to live in: this World or the Kingdom of God? Both of them are real, but one is greater than the other. To live in one means to be competitive and…Continue

Nurtured toward Home
Ever felt like a wandering exile? Maybe you haven’t been exiled geographically; but, emotionally, relationally or spiritually. Even some of our own attempts at fitting in have walled us out. We tend to build inner fortresses and/or compensating behaviors in a vain attempt to feel at home-to fit in.…
Our youngest daughter Amy (who will be 22 next month) is one who has provided me with many stories; some ‘nurturing’ to reflect on and some not so much. This one has always been ‘nurturing’. Over the years, when down or especially tattered by life’s challenges, I recall this story. Hey, maybe that is why God’s community has always been partly run on the fuel of storytelling. By the way, our dear Erin-has also provided many such stories, but not so keen on being reminded.

Hebrews 12:25-29 "See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from Heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven. Now this, Yet once more, indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.…Continue
Run for your Life
"We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It's an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us..." Hebrews 6: 18-20, The Message.
I find myself having to literally run for my very life to God on a regular basis. Of course, at the…

Perception: Creating Your Reality
I've been a lover of Jesus for over 35 years. The toughest battle I've fought is not in keeping my doctrine about Him pure, but keeping my passion for Him alive. When I'm passionate for the Lord I don't struggle to read the Bible or pray, I do this out of a passionate love. Peter and John did not impress their world by their ability to teach about God, but by their passion for God. When religious leaders "Saw the boldness of Peter and…Continue

Isaiah 53:10 (KJ V) “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.”
Jesus was born on this earth for the purpose of dying for all mankind that we might be restored to relationship with God. He lived with resolve to fulfill his life’s calling and God’s plan for His time of earth. This kind of love…
Courage; Bravery; intrepidity; that quality of mind which enables men to encounter danger and difficulties with firmness, or without fear or depression of spirits; valor; boldness; resolution. It is a constituent part of fortitude which implies patience to bear continued suffering.
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
In these troublesome times we are expected by the Lord to have courage and patience.…Continue
Are you living your life next to Him? Are you living your life in Him? Are you living your life with the awareness of Him in you? Are you living this new resurrection life under the impenetrable cover that is available to all who put their faith in the Gospel? Paul told the followers of Jesus in Colosse a remarkable truth that too few live in.
“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t…Continue

Decisions That Define Us by David Crone (original link click here)
“These are some of the decisions that define who we are as a community and how we choose to live our lives. These decisions are not destinations, but rather journeys…”
